How should I look after my new Joya mattress?
Use a Mattress Protector
A mattress protector helps safeguard your mattress from body moisture and stains. We recommend using a mattress protector at all times. A mattress protector must be used to ensure your mattress qualifies for the 100-night Sleep Trial.
Air Your Mattress
New mattresses should be aired by standing them on their side for several hours in a well-ventilated room. This allows any new upholstery or synthetic odours to dissipate fully. Regular airing will also help prolong the life of your mattress.
Use a Suitable Base
A suitable foundation, such as a divan base, will provide the best support. An old or unsuitable base may not offer adequate support. If using a slatted foundation, ensure that the slats are no more than 70mm apart and 10mm in width. For double, king, or super king sizes, a centre support rail is recommended to ensure even support for the mattress. Please note that failure to use an adequate base for your mattress may void your warranty.
Break in Your Mattress
It can take time to adjust to the feel of a new mattress, particularly if it differs from your previous one. Allow a few weeks for your body to adapt. You may initially notice a difference between the shop model and your new mattress.
Rotate Your Mattress
It’s normal for a mattress to develop sagging or permanent indentations where sleepers typically lie. To ensure even wear, we recommend rotating the mattress from head to foot once a month for the first six months. After that, rotating every three months will suffice.
